Our Work | MCCD
Building wealth and opportunity from the ground up.
Summary
The Minnesota Consortium of Community Developers plays a critical role in supporting underrepresented entrepreneurs and the organizations that serve them. Our work focused on clearly showcasing services for both consortium members and small businesses, and building a flexible design language that reflects MCCD’s core values.

Building a statewide brand that brings clarity and strengthens trust for community developers and small business partners.
MCCD was evolving from a metro-focused coalition to a statewide leader—requiring a clearer value proposition that could resonate with new regions, partners, and potential investors. They needed a unified story that conveyed their community-centered approach, their technical and financial capabilities, and their growing impact across Minnesota’s small business ecosystem. We helped frame that opportunity into a cohesive narrative, brand system and website that inspires trust and positions MCCD for statewide growth.
The Design System
MCCD's design system pairs topical collages — layered compositions of documentary photography, halftone textures, and graphic elements — with a warm-yet-authoritative color palette and editorial typography. The flexible toolkit works equally well for legislative briefings and community-facing storytelling.
Brand Implementation
The website brings the MCCD brand system to life through topical collages, editorial photography, and purposeful color shifts that move visitors through a layered narrative — from who MCCD is to how they can get involved.
Image Library
Photography is essential to the MCCD brand. Rooted in the communities MCCD serves, the images are grounded in real places and show real MCCD clients. Photographs appear in two treatments: full-color for editorial and storytelling contexts, and halftone/duotone for collage compositions and graphic layouts.
